Movie Review "Battle: Los Angeles"

It seems to me that one of the hallmarks of an advanced civilization is the ability or need to question everything thereby halting or otherwise disrupting the decision making process. When a decision is ultimately made you better believe there is a significant group somewhere that is quite unhappy with the decision. Of course our own civilization is the only advanced one that I have to make such an observation, but even a few moments observing our partisan politics should illustrate this point. In these alien invasion movies we generally have a race of aliens so advanced they can travel across the cosmos and generally build impressive technology to try and enslave or eliminate us. Considering their advanced state, I imagine that decision was not made very easily and somewhere back on their homeworld there are lots of advanced aliens that are pretty ticked off about this hostile decision. Unfortunately we are not dealing with those ones, but rather their more decisive superiors. Fortunately they are dealing with our Marines. Those guys don't hesitate to make a decision and their decision is always the same one. Win. Thats what they did on Independence Day and thats what they do here. So if you are an invading alien force my advice to you is not to take action that will result in dealing with the Marines. You would be better off by trying to appeal to our "advanced thinking". Shoot if you do that you'd probably get a rather significant amount of support from us, the very people you are hoping to enslave or eliminate. Thats just how advanced we are.
