The first one of these was sort of based on actual Greek myths. It took several liberties here and there, but Greek myths were used as some sort of basis. If any of you liked the first one, but thought that these myths bogged down the movie too much then this is the movie for you. This one does away with all that mythology and forges ahead all on its own. Sure the names, the places, the monsters all come from Greek myths, but I don't think anything they're doing comes from the myths. So how does it work out? Well without all them myths you don't have to worry about things like characterizations or plots or anything like that and you can just focus on dudes fighting monsters and giants made of magma with swords and spears. Furthermore its all streamlined so you're in and out in about 90 minutes. Not too bad if you ask me.
