In the first one of these, a series of events leaves Ron Burgundy down on his luck, having lost everything in his life. During this time Ron sports an impressive, but disheveled beard to indicate his more depressed state. Now you can make the case that if you slap a beard on anyone that immediately makes them look more like any other bearded man, but the resemblance between me and Ron Burgundy is pretty uncanny when you give us each our beards. I'm not even the one who initially realized this as it was brought to my attention by friends, but I do agree. Shoot, put me in a maroon suit, break my beard down to mustache levels and you'd be looking right at this. It certainly is high praise being compared to someone who is portraying a state of lonely, absolute low point, sadness. Unfortunately, the Burgundy beard does not make even a cameo appearance in this sequel. This is disappointing considering that pretty much every other joke or gag from the first movie is repeated here. Somehow the beard didn't make the cut. I guess there were plenty of other laughs to try again. If you liked all those jokes before, you'll probably still like them well enough here, along with the few new ones.
